We now offer yoga classes and therapeutic yoga sessions at Thompsons Road Physiotherapy.

Yoga combines physical postures (asanas), breathing and meditation exercises to promote wellness through improving strength, mobility and mindfulness. In a yoga class you will experience a combination of breathing exercises, movements that stretch and strengthen and build body awareness, and meditation/mindfulness.

Our classes are run by physiotherapist Lauren Broomhall, who has completed both a 200hr Yoga Teacher Training Certificate and Level 1&2 Therapeutic Yoga Certificates. Lauren loves yoga for its health benefits, and believes it should be available to people of all ages and lifestyles. Lauren combines her physiotherapy training and deep knowledge of anatomy to create classes that are safe, accessible and enjoyable!

Lauren also offers 1:1 therapeutic yoga sessions of 30 and 60 minutes. If you don’t feel ready for class yet, or would like to workshop some poses or learn how to practice yoga for a specific condition/injury, this is a great option for you. Lauren can help you find your way into yoga safely and effectively. Standard physiotherapy fees apply for these 1:1 consultations.

WHO CAN DO YOGA?

Everyone! It is suitable for all levels, ages, genders  and abilities for people with good general health.

I’M TOTALLY NEW TO YOGA – WHERE TO START?

We recommend that you have a 60 minute 1:1 yoga assessment with Lauren prior to starting in a beginner level class to familiarise yourself with key poses, correct alignment and safety considerations.

I HAVE AN INJURY/CONDITION – CAN I DO YOGA?

We strongly recommend that people with specific health issues attend a 60 minute 1:1 yoga assessment with Lauren BEFORE joining class, to ensure they can participate safely, and learn how to adapt in class.

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?

Loose-fitting, stretchy clothing that you can move in. Note you will be exercising in bare feet. Don’t wear jewellery that will get caught or dangle in the way.

WHAT SHOULD I BRING?

Bring your own yoga mat, drink bottle and small sweat towel.

HOW DO I PAY?

You can pre-pay for classes at TRP reception desk. Private health rebates may apply, depending on your level of cover.
